COPPELL, Texas (AP) – Retail gasoline prices across Texas and the country have declined by a nickel this week.
AAA Texas on Thursday reported average statewide prices at the pump have dropped to $1.95 per gallon, down from $2.
Nationwide, unleaded gas prices now stand at an average of $2.15.
Of the metro regions in Texas, drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at the pump, at $1.83 per gallon. Motorists in Dallas are paying the most at $1.97.
AAA says the abundance of crude oil in the global market is contributing to lower prices.
AAA projects that 3.9 million Texans will travel at least 50 miles from home for the Thanksgiving holiday, an increase of 160,000 travelers from last year.
