DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The man behind a violent North Texas crime spree has been taken off the streets.

Devonte Dillard from Dallas was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in four, violent armed robberies in Mesquite and Garland in 2015.

Dillard was part of a group of five who robbed convenience stores throughout the cities.

In one instance, Dillard shot an employee during a robbery at the Chevron Food Mart on Highway 80 in Mesquite.

In the other robberies, the store employees were assaulted.

Three of Dillard’s accomplices have already pleaded guilty and another is set to go to trial in February.
