Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Methodist Medical Center-Dallas was the first DFW-area hospital to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
Texas is expected to get more than 220,000 doses of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine for distribution this week.
Twenty-three locations will received doses on today and Tuesday, with the remaining 86 medical centers getting them later in the week.
Dr. Mark Casanova, President of the Dallas County Medical Society expressed amazement over the rollout of the vaccine.
“The logistics behind this is really as remarkable as the development of the vaccine itself.”
He describes the the Pfizer vaccine as a “rock solid vaccine,” and told WFAA that he fully anticipates his colleagues will be rolling up their sleeves and getting needles in their arm as early as mid-week.
Parkland and UT-Southwestern in Dallas and Texas Health in Fort Worth will get vaccines tomorrow.
Gov. Greg Abbott said earlier in December that Texas is slated to get more than 1.4 million doses of vaccines by the end of the month.
