Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – A coalition of 13 advocacy and environmental groups has filed a 61 page petition calling on the Environmental Protection Agency to review the job performance of Texas’ top environmental agency. The coaltion claims the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality routinely violates civil rights and environmental laws by ignoring the ways air pollution from industrial sites affects minority and low-income neighborhoods. The petition says the groups have been trying to bring the state agency into compliance for a number of years without effect, and now believes nothing will change without the intervention of the federal government.
