MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Texas Rangers are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in McKinney.
It happened Friday morning at the American Inn Motel on West University Drive near Coleman Street.
Officers were called to the scene around 5:17 a.m. after the McKinney Police Department received several 911 calls about an “active disturbance” at the motel.
Investigators said when officers arrived, they encountered a man armed with a machete.
Mckinney PD said officers gave several commands for the man to drop the weapon, but he kept “advancing towards them.”
That’s when officers fired, striking the suspect.
He was taken to local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported.
