Dallas (AP) – T-Mobile has sent engineers to Dallas to try to figure out why ghost calls are jamming the 911 system. WFAA-TV reports a 6 month old boy died Saturday night after his baby-sitter couldn’t reach 911 operators because of the problem. According to the report, when a T-Mobile customer calls 911, ghost calls are created that jam the system. As a result, operators end up putting calls on hold as they try to catch up. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings issued a statement Tuesday saying, “This issue not only puts paying T-Mobile customers at risk, but it jeopardizes the safety of people throughout the city.” He went on to say he hopes T-Mobile will work around the clock to fix the issue. Bridget Alex told WFAA-TV she was at her sister’s house after the funeral for her 19-year-old nephew when the sitter called her frantically. The sitter said 6-month-old Brandon Alex had fallen from a day bed and was unconscious. The sitter said she had called 911 three times and kept being placed on hold.
