Update at 3:50pm: The North Central Texas Council of Governments is working to figure out what caused a 911 outage that affected about one million people this afternoon.
Service has been restored and is making its way back to normal.
911 calls in several counties were temporarily re-routed.

DFW (WBAP/KLIF) – 911 is reportedly down in several North Texas communities. The majority of the outages are in Collin, Rockwell, Parker, Ellis and Erath counties. According the North Central Texas Council of Governments website, at this time all calls have been manually rerouted and the public should be able to get through by calling 9-1-1. This means all 9-1-1 calls will be rerouted to the ten digit non-emergency number.
Call takers will not be able to map callers’ locations, so citizens MUST know their location. Although calls are being rerouted, law enforcement officials encourage residents to call non-emergency numbers if they experience problems dialing 9-1-1 and need emergency assistance. Non-emergency numbers are listed below. It’s unknown when service will be restored.
