DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — While some conservatives are worried that Texas may be turning more liberal Senator Ted Cruz isn’t one of them. After his easy win in the Republican primary Tuesday Cruz said the so-called blue wave Democrats are hoping for in the November general election will crash upon a solid red wall.
Cruz points to the fact that he received 1.3 million of the 1.5 million Repubican votes cast Tuesday while Democrat Rep. Beto O’Rourke got less than half that number in winning his primary.
Cruz said on CNN, “That doesn’t quite fit the narrative that a lot of folks in the media want to tell because every two years, every four years, Texas is always fixing to turn blue, but the nice values of it is in Texas at least there are a lot more conservatives than there are liberals.”
Immediately after he was declared the winner in his race Cruz started running campaign ads against O’Rourke slamming his positions on immigration and guns which Cruz says are out of sync with most Texans.
Cruz added he won’t be taking his reelection for granted, though, especially considering the passion and energy of the anti-Trump movement in the U.S.
