Grand Prairie, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – An HIV-infected businessman from Richardson was charged by Grand Prairie Police for allegedly trying to meet a teen for sex.
51-year old Jeffrey Steven Rudluff had unknowingly been communicating online with an undercover Grand Prairie detective posing as a teen.
Rutliff admitted to being HIV-positive after police found what is known as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PReP) pill in his pocket. It prevents infection in people who do not have HIV.
According to WFAA-TV, an online ad on January 7th, triggered an investigation.
Over a two week period, Rudluff allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the undercover police officer , at one point stating, “Having sex with someone like you is a crime,” and frequently asking the teen to delete their conversations and hide their chats from his mother.
According to the affidavit, Rudluff also attempted to get the teen to download an encrypted communication app that allows users to delete chats.
The FBI is involved with the investigation.
