Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Former Texas First Lady Rita Clements has died at her home in Dallas. She was 86. She was the widow of Texas Governor Bill Clements, and more than one of her contemporaries described her as “the brain trust of that outfit.” Rita Clements led the renovation of the Governor’s Mansion while her husband was in office, and served for years on the University of Texas Board of Regents. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas.
