PLANO (WBAP/KLIF)–The first wave of Toyota employees will move into their new digs Monday.
The $3 billion, 100-acre campus in Plano, will hold up to 4000 employees.
According to the Japanese automaker, not all employees will move in at once, they’ll be staggered at about 250 a week.
Sally Bane is the Executive Director of Economic Development for the city and spoke with WFAA-TV. She admits that traffic in the area will be tight, but that the fiscal impact will be worth it. The addition of Toyota is expected increase the city’s economy by $7 billion over the next 10 years.
“It’s good news for Plano because that wave of employees will help start contributing to that $7 billion of impact,” said Bane.
Currently, 1700 employees are working out of Toyota’s temporary headquarters, a thousand more expected to be added locally.
