McAllen (WBAP/KLIF News) – Charter Communications has announced a plan to build a call center in McAllen. The move is part of the company’s plan to bring back all of its call centers from overseas.
“It’s a great pleasure to announce these jobs,” says CEO Tom Rutledge. “Charter has been insourcing jobs for the last five years.”
Rutledge met with President Trump and Governor Greg Abbott in the Oval Office Friday.
“We have a president who is living up to his campaign promise,” Abbott said. “That is to create more jobs, but also to create more jobs by returning jobs from overseas.”
The president asked Abbott if McAllen was a good place.
“Great place,” Abbott said.
“I knew you were going to say that,” President Trump responded.
The call center will bring 600 jobs. Charter says it will hire 25,000 people across the country over the next four years.
