ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) The Dallas Cowboys are hoping a surgery gets their quarterback ready for next season. Doctors are going to perform the Mumford procedure on Tony Romo next week, which will have him down for 6-8 weeks. Dr. James Pinckney says the surgery will remove a piece of bone. He says think of it like a board placed across two chairs while a martial artist chops the board. Doctors will remove a piece of the board by one of the chairs, so if the board is hit, it can swing freely. That means future impacts to Romo’s shoulder will be less likely to cause a fracture.
