IRVING (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)–The family of Jazeera Gonzalez, the North Lake College student who was gunned down on campus Wednesday, says they waited until the evening hours to find out she was dead.
“We were in the parking lot until five something asking people left and right if they had seen my sister,” said Janeera’s brother at a press conference Friday. “We noticed people were leaving and we were the only ones there. We kept being told she was going to come out with another group, only to find out that my sister had been gunned down for no reason.”
Janeera was shot by her apparent stalker who she barely knew. Adrian Torres killed himself after shooting Janeera. The Gonzalez family is now left wondering why.
“There is so much anger in my heart,” said Janeera’s mother Lucia Gonzalez. “I will never see my daughter again. She was my best friend. I want justice. I want answers.”
Janeera would have been the first person in her family to graduate college and those close to the Gonzalez’s are asking that she receive the accolades she worked so hard for.
“We want this young lady honored at the commencement ceremony,” said a family spokesperson Friday. “This young lady had a whole future ahead of her and her family deserves to have the degree of Janeera Gonzlaez on their wall.”
Administrators at North Lake College have plans to meet with the Gonzalez family.
