Justice for Jordan sought at downtown rally

After the firing and murder charge brought against former Balch Springs Police Officer Roy Oliver in the shooting death of Jordan Edwards, people are wanting more. Over one-hundred people gathered outside of the Frank Crowley Courthouse in Dallas Tuesday demanding justice for Jordan and those before him.

“It’s important to be a voice because we need justice for all,” said Sharon Lyons. “Not just one, but all.”

Leaders from local churches and organizations spoke at the rally and stressed the message that “enough is enough.”

“The significance of all this is that we’re hearing too often, justice for Jordan or justice for Trayvon,” said Reggie Ruffin who attended the rally. “It’s like an ongoing casualty list.”

Activists at the rally called for an indictment on Roy Oliver, a federal investigation into the Balch Springs Police Department, and a change in the criminal justice system toward police brutality.
