Judge OKs 2nd Mental Health Exam for UT Stabbing Suspect

State District Judge Tamara Needles has ordered an examination of Kendrex White independent of the one commissioned by the 21-year-old suspect’s attorneys. The Austin American-Statesman reports that White’s attorneys objected to the extra test, noting that their initial test already found White competent to stand trial. The defense attorneys argued that the prosecution may use the second test to fish for damaging information.

White is charged with murder in the stabbing of four students, one fatally, in a bloody rampage on the university’s Austin campus. Police said after the attack that White suffered from mental health troubles.
