BENBROOK (WBAP/KLIF) Officials were called to 3600 Winscott Plover Road after receiving a report of a drowning, around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. After many hours of searching, officials recovered the body of a male teen who drowned near Mustang Park in Benbrook Lake.
The teens body was recovered around 11 p.m. and has been identified as Matthew Franklin, of Fort Worth by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials said Franklin was in a canoe with two of his friends when the canoe capsized.
According to his family who spoke to WFAA, Franklin was a 17-year-old junior at Paschal High School and was the youngest of five.
The family has created a GoFundMe page for his funeral costs.
