(WBAP/KLIF) — AP — The House is weighing the next steps on legislation to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security after the Senate sent over legislation to end the budget impasse that has jammed airports, disrupted travel and imposed financial hardship on thousands of federal workers.
The Senate early Friday approved the deal without a roll call vote. The House also must approve it before President Donald Trump can sign the bill into law. House Speaker Mike Johnson says he’ll need to meet with his fellow Republicans to determine the best way to proceed.
Republicans are angry the entire department was not funded. The measure is a potential endgame to the 42-day partial government shutdown.
