DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas police said they’ve arrested the suspect in connection with the theft of musical equipment belonging to a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
Nils Lofgren was in town for a gig at the Kessler Theater over the weekend when the goods, including several guitars, were stolen while stored in a van outside a Holiday Inn on Communications Drive Thursday and Friday.
A former middle school bandmate of Lofgren’s, who lives in North Texas, loaned him a few guitars for the night.
So, the show went on as scheduled.
Investigators said 33-year-old Oscar Mendoza allegedly broke into Lofgren’s van and took the equipment.
Police caught the suspect after a witness who bought one of the guitars on Offer Up tipped off police and led them to Mendoza.
Lofgren thanked his fans on Twitter after Mendoza’s arrest.
Thank you all. This has been an unbelievable weekend. Looks like my guitars are coming back to me. Thank you to my crew who had to do double time, just so I could walk on stage. Fellow musicians who lovingly offered their own guitars. @azsweetheart013 who reminded me, believe. https://t.co/tPcOM0Lr39
