Large Police Presence AT Dallas PTAA School

UPDATE: 1:15 PM – PTAA School says students are safe, and all safety protocols were quickly put into place after reports a student with a firearm had entered the school.

UPDATE: 11:17 AM – Mesquite Police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with an apparent shooting inside PTAA School in the 3200 block of Oates Drive this morning, just off Gus Thomassen Road. Witness John Kitt says he saw an ambulance park in the median of a street across from the school, heard “popping” noises he believed to be gunfire, and then watched a quick and heavy police response.

One person was seen taken away by ambulance; Mesquite Police report they have a suspect in custody. Police say no other students or faculty were injured in the apparent shooting.

UPDATE: 10:24 AM – Mesquite Police appear to have stopped a suspected person with a gun this morning, later termed “active shooter” once police arrived. Mesquite Police confirm an officer involved shooting in response, and an eyewitness, John Kit, tells 820 WBAP News he saw one person on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. No student or faculty injuries are reported at this time.

Mesquite Police indicate they were involved in negotiations with the suspects, who is now confirmed as taken to an area hospital. Reunification of families with PTAA students is now underway at Living truth Church at 3120 Moon Drive, Mesquite. More information as it becomes available.
