Dallas City Manager Resigns

DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax has offered a resignation letter to the Dallas Mayor and City Council members. No reason is given for the resignation.

In his letter of resignation dated February 21, 2024, Broadnax thanks the Mayor and Council members for the opportunity to serve citizens and the 13,000 city employees over the past seven years.

Dallas, TX (Feb. 21, 2024) – City Manager, T.C. Broadnax has resigned effective June 3, 2024, at
the suggestion of the majority of the Dallas City Council. This resignation is a necessary step
towards fostering an environment conducive to maximizing the potential of our beloved city.
After careful consideration, it has become apparent that the relationship between the mayor
and the city manager has not been conducive to effective governance and the advancement of
Dallas’ interests. The dynamic between these key citywide figures has unfortunately hindered
the realization of our city’s full potential, and it is imperative that we address this issue head-on
in order to move forward. Dallas city council members are committed to stepping into the void of leadership and working collaboratively to chart a new course for the city. It is essential to recognize that effective governance requires collective effort and a shared commitment to the well-being of our
community.

As we embark on this new chapter, the Dallas City Council is dedicated to continuing an
environment of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in city governance. We remain
steadfast in our commitment to serving the interests of all residents and ensuring that Dallas
continues to thrive and prosper. In the near term, we will be working diligently to select an interim city manager. This presents us with a valuable opportunity to conduct a national search for a new city manager who shares our vision for the future of our city. We are confident that with the support of our residents and stakeholders, we will emerge from this transition stronger and more united.
