ISLAMABAD (AP) — The United States and Iran are close to signing an agreement aimed at ending their war. That’s according to three regional officials who spoke Friday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive talks. Iran’s foreign minister posted Friday on social media that an agreement between Tehran and Washington “has never been closer.” The regional officials said they expect the deal to pave the way for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. A senior U.S. official said terms include removal and destruction of nuclear material from Iran. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the sensitive negotiations.
