Police identified the victim as Lacorian Darfour, 19. An unknown suspect shot Darfour at approximately 11:10 a.m. in the 9500 block of Bruton Road, according to the Dallas Police Department. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported him to a hospital, where he died.
The six-death count reflects five incidents that occurred between July 2 and July 10 and that DPD publicly classified as homicide investigations. It should not be read as a final official citywide homicide total for July.
Police also announced a separate homicide investigation this month tied to a June 27 incident.
Two juveniles charged in double homicide
The deadliest case announced so far involved two victims found shot on July 8 in the 3400 block of Michigan Avenue. Both died at the scene, police said.
Officers later located a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy. Police charged both juveniles with capital murder and transferred them to the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center.
Authorities had not publicly identified the victims in the initial release. The charges are allegations and do not establish guilt.
Assault charge upgraded after victim dies
A separate case began as an aggravated assault investigation after a physical altercation outside in the 4200 block of Harry Hines Boulevard on July 5.
Police said Dillion Hill, 34, punched John Zuniga, 50, causing Zuniga to fall and strike his head.
Officers arrested Hill at the scene on an aggravated assault charge. Zuniga died at the hospital on July 9, and police upgraded Hill’s charge to murder.
Hill faces a murder charge, but the law presumes him innocent unless a court finds him guilty.
Suspects sought in two shootings
No arrest had been announced in the July 10 Bruton Road killing. Police asked anyone with information to contact Det. T. Johnston at 214-671-3523 or timothy.johnston@dallaspolice.gov.
Police also continue to investigate the July 7 shooting death of an unidentified man in the 3400 block of Sam Houston Road.
An unknown suspect shot the man at approximately 10:46 p.m., and Dallas Fire-Rescue transported him to a hospital, where he died. No arrest had been made.
Anyone with information about the Sam Houston Road case can contact Det. D. Mendoza at 214-671-4191 or daisy.mendoza@dallaspolice.gov.
Grand jury to review La France Street case
Police said a known suspect shot Baldwin. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported him to a hospital, where he died.
DPD said the case would be referred to a grand jury. Police did not announce an arrest or identify the suspected shooter in the release.
Separate June incident announced as homicide
DPD also announced a homicide investigation on July 7 stemming from an incident that occurred June 27 in the 9300 block of Pinyon Tree Road.
Police said Jeremy Walker, 35, fell from a moving vehicle, suffered critical injuries, and died a few days later.
Investigators have not publicly explained the circumstances surrounding the fall, and the initial release did not specify Walker’s date of death or announce any charges.
Anyone with information about Walker’s death can contact Det. J. Morgan at 214-425-9905 or jake.morgan@dallaspolice.gov.
The July cases follow another cluster of homicide investigations announced during the first week of June. The Dallas Express reported on June 8 that Dallas police had made arrests in three of four homicide cases announced during that week.
