A Dallas police officer was injured July 8 when a vehicle struck the officer’s squad car during a traffic stop on the Marvin D. Love Freeway, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 3:52 p.m. to an assist-officer-with-ambulance call in the 6200 block of the northbound freeway, the department said.
A preliminary investigation found that the officer was standing next to the squad car when another vehicle struck it, according to the department’s statement.
The officer was taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation. Dallas Fire-Rescue also transported the driver of the vehicle that struck the squad car to a hospital.
“We are grateful our officer does not appear to have suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution,” Chief of Police Daniel Comeaux said. “The safety of our officers is always our highest priority, and we appreciate the quick response of first responders and the support of our community.”
The department said the ongoing investigation will be documented under case number 099403-2026.
