A Facebook post attributed to Tarrant County Democratic Party Vice Chair Patrice Jones about raising black children around white people drew criticism from local Republicans after it circulated online.
Jones was selected on May 28 by Tarrant County Democratic Party Chair Allison Campolo to serve as the party’s vice chair, according to the party. The party’s website also lists Jones as vice chair.
Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Tim Davis criticized the post in a statement to The Dallas Express.
“When they tell you who they are and what they think, believe them,” Davis said.
“What a shame that an officer of the Democrat Party thinks this way, but there are just too many examples of their bigotry to ignore,” Davis said.
Davis contrasted Jones’ comments with what he described as the Tarrant County Republican Party’s approach.
“Tarrant Republicans are a broad coalition of people from all different backgrounds and races, and I’m glad when my children spend time with any of them,” Davis said.
The dispute comes months after Davis filed formal administrative challenges against the ballot applications of seven Democratic judicial candidates in Tarrant County, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Davis alleged at the time that the candidates failed to meet multiple requirements set by the Texas Election Code, which, if upheld, could have disqualified them from the primary ballot.
