Dallas ISD families will have two opportunities in August to prepare for the new school year through events offering student registration, free school supplies, and a variety of support services.
The district is encouraging families to attend both the 30th Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair and the Dallas ISD Back-to-School Kickoff, which are designed to help students begin the academic year with the resources they need.
Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair
The 30th Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 7, at Fair Park.
The annual event, which began in 1996, serves more than 10,000 families each year by providing free school supplies and other services to students. Attendees will also have access to health screenings, dental exams, and free haircuts.
The event, powered by All Stars Project, Inc. and the Junior League of Dallas, will also offer fun, family-friendly activities and family support resources.
Families must register in advance to attend the fair.
Dallas ISD Back to School Kickoff
Dallas ISD will host its Back to School Kickoff from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at Ellis Davis Field House.
The event will provide on-site enrollment assistance for students entering prekindergarten through 12th grade for the upcoming school year.
Students who register during the event will receive free school supplies, district-approved backpacks, and additional services while supplies last.
District officials encourage parents to bring the required enrollment documents, including:
- Birth certificate (new students only)
- Parent or guardian photo identification
- Proof of address
- Immunization records
- Social Security card (optional)
Families enrolling children in prekindergarten should also bring documentation to verify eligibility, if applicable, including proof of income, Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF benefit letters, foster care paperwork, military documentation, or Star of Texas documentation.
Dallas ISD also encourages families to review school supply lists, the district’s clear backpack policy, and enrollment information before the start of the school year.
