TERRELL, Texas — All eastbound lanes of U.S. 80 were shut down at Windmill Farms due to a catastrophic fatal accident, officials say. The highway has since reopened, according to Texas Department of Transportation cameras.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says three people are dead after the crash involving a passenger vehicle and a “truck-tractor semi-trailer.”
Around 11:30 on Sunday night, a Hyundai car was disabled in the eastbound lanes of US 80 when an 18-wheeler was “unable to avoid the collision” and hit the car hard enough to go over the concrete railing of the bridge.
In a release Monday, TXDPS has named the driver of the Hyundai as 38-year-old Valencia Deshun Williams. The release also says two passengers, a 14-year-old child and a 9-year-old child were killed as well.
The truck driver was not injured in the collision and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
